Happy Thursday everyone! 

It's a long holiday weekend and school is winding down. Where did the time go? I also just realized that I am less than 2 months away from my 3 year anniversary of starting Macaroni Kid Cleveland East. (Some of you have been around since the very beginning when it was little ol' Macaroni Kid Shaker Heights.) Oh, what a wild ride it has been!

With Memorial Day pretty much here, we're pretty sure that many of our Macaroni Families will be spending the weekend camping. Here's a short but sensible list of tips and activities and a quick reference to "Low Impact Camping." Have a great camping adventure with your family!

Friday, May 25 - Outdoor Education for Homeschoolers: Life Cycles of Plants

April showers bring May flowers, making this a great time to learn about plants and tree life cycles. We’ll hike Scenic Loop trail and learn about the flora along the way. Terrain: moderate, hills, 1.6 miles

Friday, May 25 - Family Friday Night: Fascinating Frogs

Frogs can be colorful, strange or plain - all of them have important roles in nature. See weird and wonderful tropical frogs and some native wetland favorites up close. After the indoor program we’ll hike around the marsh to search for tadpoles and frogs. Terrain: easy, muddy, 0.5 mile

Saturday, June 2 through Sunday, June 3 - Art in the Village

The always popular Art in the Village will bring its eclectic mix of talented artists back to Legacy Village. The artists, chosen from an independent panel of expert judges, are hand?selected from hundreds of applicants, based on quality and diversity. In addition to artwork, visitors will enjoy great live music, food vendors, a children’s art area with visual artists from Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio, a wine tasting with The Ohio Wine Producers Association and more.

Saturday, June 2 - Sensory School-Age Program

Join us for a sensory school-age program that welcomes families whose children have a variety of different needs--including those with Autism, Down syndrome, sensory-processing disorder, speech/language delays, cognitive impairments, AD/HD, and other special needs or challenges. Program incorporates a schedule board and will allow a variety of opportunities for learning and social interaction related to literacy.

Saturday, June 2 - Friendship Bracelets & Pizza!

Join us as we weave colorful friendship bracelets and enjoy pizza at the Chagrin Falls Branch Library! Bring a friend, too. All materials provided. Please note: All participants must have a Release and Hold Harmless form signed by a parent prior to the program to enjoy pizza. Stop by the Chagrin Falls Library to pick up a form, sign it when you drop off your teen, or call the branch if you have any questions.

Sunday, June 3 - Half Pints Club: Environmental Scavenger Hunt

Every year on June 5th, the world celebrates World Environment Day. As a store, Whole Foods Market Chagrin Half Pints will celebrate with a Scavenger Hunt and snacks. Our Half Pints will learn more about recycling and then will scavenge the store for recycled products and receive a prize for completing the scavenger hunt.

Saturday, August 4 - Home Depot Kids Workshop: Build a Cork Bulletin Board

Home Depot workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.   In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

Macaroni Kid Cleveland East is excited to partner with Kindermusik of Cleveland for Open Play! (You do not need to be a MK subscriber or enrolled in Kindermusik to attend.)
