Macaroni Kid Cleveland East News
And a Mom's Confession
Welcome to Macaroni Kid Cleveland East!
Proudly serving downtown Cleveland, east to Painesville, down through Chagrin Falls and Solon and then back up the Cuyahoga River! (and more!)

As parents, we all have bad days. Some days we want to hide, others to run away and some days we just yell. I know I do and those days may be more than I thought. It was a sobering moment when, just last week, my youngest (2 1/2) was playing with a doll who she couldn't get to sit up right. It was when she got in the doll's face and yelled at it to get in her seat that I felt like I had been punched.
OH. MY. GAWD.
All I could see was me and the epic battle I have with her a few times a day to get in her car seat as we are late for school or a doctors appointment, as I am getting rained on or standing in the blistering heat, or just plain want to get home.
This has got to end.
That night I had a very hard yet very supportive talk with my husband about how this has to change. I am happy to say that both the realization of the affect I am having on my children and an open and honest discussion seemed to be just the medicine I needed.
And then, as Macaroni Kid tends to do, it let me know that it is not just me. Just today, Macaroni Kid National published this article about Patience in Parenting. It is even more reassuring that I am not alone!
So, please, take a minute to read it, and then enjoy this week's newsletter.
Until next week,
Jenny

Oh Jenny, I'm with you on this! Hardly a day goes by that I don't notice some negative aspect in my behavior showing up in the way my son acts or speaks. It truly is a wake-up call for us all!
Thanks for being honest enough to share this, and caring enough to want to change (and help us all to change).
Have your say
