Applegate Hot Dogs: The Only Hot Dogs I Buy!

May 19, 2015
Products were provided for me to review. Opinions are strictly my own.

I have been buying Applegate hot dogs for years. Matter of fact, it is the only brand of hot dogs I will buy for my family. Hot dogs are famous for being "mystery meat" but, not Applegate. It's just, well, meat! What a hot dog should be!

When I was asked to promote and review Applegate's Naturals Beef Hot Dogs, it was an immediate yes from me. I know you all have kids at home and it's your hope to give them the best food you can. I also know that hot dogs are an easy favorite for kids (yum!) and parents (easy!).

The cleaner wiener – Beef, Water, Salt, and Spices: People love hot dogs, but not necessarily what’s in them.
  • Applegate conducted a survey last year that found while 92% of Americans bought hot dogs in the last year, 80% agreed that most hot dogs are low quality and unhealthy.
  • The survey also found that when presented with two hot dog ingredient lists, 91% of Americans chose the hot dogs with the simple label.
  • Applegate’s hot dog ingredient list is simple: 100% grass-fed beef, water, salt and spices. That’s it! No artificial ingredients, preservatives, and no antibiotics ever.
Better ingredients mean better for you: Most families avoid hot dogs because of the fat, sodium and calories. Applegate’s hot dogs have about half the fat and 40 percent less sodium than other hot dogs, which takes the guilt out of summertime guilty pleasures.

At last week's Macaroni Kid Summer Fun Party, everyone got to enjoy an Applegate hot dog (or two!), topped with Sir Kensington's ketchup and mustard. Many people (including the kids), came back for seconds. They are that good!

What's in your hot dog?
