Nature at Night

Did you know that while you’re getting ready for bed, a whole world of animals is just waking up? Nocturnal animals have a heightened sense of smell, hearing and sight to help them thrive in the nighttime. While we don’t often get to see these critters, Cleveland Metroparks Nature at Night presented by Davey Tree is where you can experience all the ways nature comes to life when the sun goes down.

Nature at Night presented by Davey Tree is a free evening-long extravaganza for the entire family on Saturday, September 16.

At the North Chagrin Nature Center from 5 to 7:45 p.m., while the sun is still out, sunlit activities such as live animal programs, naturalists talks, crafts and more will be available. A Sunset Celebration will commence at 7:45 p.m. to transition into the night where hikes, star gazing and a campfire will provide opportunities to explore nature’s nighttime mysteries.

If you’ve ever wondered what nature is up to while you’re sleeping, don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the awe of nature at night, you never know whoo you might see wandering about.

Plus, from 5-6 p.m. receive free tree seedlings (while supplies last) as part of the 537 trees in the Trees for Threes program. Through Trees for Threes, PwC and the Cleveland Cavs are committed to planting one tree for every three-pointer the Cavs make during the regular season home games. Trees for Threes trees are donated by Davey Tree. Be sure to follow the Cavs through the season to see how many trees will be planted in Northeast Ohio by following #Trees4Threes on social media and on www.cavs.com/trees

North Chagrin Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Mayfield Village - south of the I-90/Rte. 91 exit. For more information, call 440-473-3370 or visit clevelandmetroparks.com.
