Time to get moving! Master Marr's Taekwon-do (MMTKD) Summer Day Camp, designed for children ages 5 through 14, is a great way for beginners to kick start their training, and for experienced martial artists to hone their skills. Two separate weeks of camp will be offered in 2018: June 11-15 and August 6-10. Younger children come for a half-day (9am-12:30pm) of martial arts practice, age-appropriate conditioning, and challenging games. Older children stay after lunch (9am-3pm) for more training and to prepare a demonstration for friends and family.
Activities take place at MMTKD’s bright, air-conditioned space in Shaker Heights, as well as outside when weather permits. Campers will be physically and mentally active for much of the day and should come prepared to work hard. However, time for building friendships and free play are factored in as well. While the age range is large, break-out sessions will allow the instructors to individually tailor drills for each level, and those campers with more experience will act as role models for the newer students.
Tuition includes a healthy snack each day and a Taekwon-do uniform for new students. Uniforms will be worn inside the school and gym clothes and sneakers for outside activities. Participants must bring their own lunch and reusable water bottle. Current students of Master Marr's Taekwon-do receive a discount on tuition.
Co-owners James Marr and Elaine Bayless have been teaching children for over fifteen years, helping them to build stronger bodies and minds, and ultimately, to become more self-aware and respectful of others. The husband and wife team opened their first Taekwon-do school in New Jersey in 2002. Eleven years and over 1500 students later, Marr and Bayless moved to Ohio to be closer to extended family. Master Marr's Taekwon-do opened on Chagrin Boulevard in Shaker Heights in the spring of 2014.
