Inspiring, Fun, Enriching Summer Camps at The Music Settlement

April 19, 2018

Community, Friendship, and Music! The Music Settlement at University Circle offers unique and inspiring camps for ages 3 – adult in June, July, & August: www.TheMusicSettlement.org/camp

The Nature Explorers preschool camps (ages 3-6) encourage campers to discover and engage in a rich arts & sciences STEAM environment through games, outdoor activities, and arts and crafts. Campers must bring a nut-free lunch and water bottle from home daily. Toilet mastery is required.

If your child was in Kindergarten this year, Camp Create is a better fit. Led by TMS EC Drama Specialist Mr. C, Camp Create (formerly known as Music Builders) is a nurturing and engaging introductory arts camp rich with fun and learning. This camp fosters creativity, confidence, and caring by combining theater, dance, and vocal & instrumental music. Campers will collaborate to create an original presentation, to be performed the last day of camp. Before and After Care are available: please pre-register when you enroll for camps.

Music Safari Camp (ages 4-10) is an ideal setting for children to be introduced to music and the arts. During this week of musical exploration, campers will enjoy a hands-on experience with several families of instruments, including strings, winds, brass, percussion, and keyboard. This camp is a great opportunity to find out what instrument your child connects with before they begin private lessons. Prior musical experience is not necessary!

Suzuki Camp is an opportunity for children currently studying violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, or piano in the Suzuki Method to join TMS Suzuki faculty and guest clinicians for a week of instruction, motivation, and fun!  Intro to Suzuki also runs the same week, for ages 4-6 and their parent to learn about studying music with The Music Settlement’s Suzuki Department.

In addition to camps for children, music camps for tween & teen singers & instrumentalists include Piano, Rock & Popular Music, Broadway Basics, Orchestra, Chamber, North Coast Winds, & Jazz. NEW this year is a two-day Cello Boot Camp for teens and adults. Online enrollment is available for all camps at www.themusicsettlement.org/camp.

Inclusion opportunities and supportive programming may be available to assist campers with disabilities. Please call The Music Settlement’s Center for Music Therapy at (216) 421-5806 ext. 246 or email areed@themsuicsettlement.org to discuss whether our camps have the potential to be a successful experience for your child. An assessment for people new to TMS and a support fee may be required.

Also in the summer: Arts for the Young, summer private lessons, and music therapy. Tuition assistance is available for those who qualify. Sort summer classes by age & enroll online at www.TheMusicSettlement.org/all.
